This week, my oldest son turns 7. During those 7 years, I’ve worked out of my home as a freelance writer and content marketer. Like most people, I started on the quest to work from home when I was pregnant with my first child because I really didn’t want to put him in daycare but financially – we needed my income. It wasn’t always easy and we made some sacrifices to make it happen, but I fully believe it was the best choice for our family.

Interesting that even the great philosopher’s knew that it’s the moms that rock this world. Case in point, the phrase “Necessity, who is the Mother of Invention” (Plato, The Republic -Greek author & philosopher in Athens 427 BC – 347 BC) . Procrastination……something that I must really work on….one day. I’m fairly certain they didn’t coin this term for my behavior alone, so I’m guessing the rest of you probably face the same dilemma on occasion. So what can you do to put a stop to the delay in starting something?
First you must acknowledge why you are [...]

Freelancers are one of the few professions where an individual can create their own hours, select which clients they will work for and which ones they won’t, and decide how much their time is worth. This is the same across all freelance professions, whether you are a writer, graphic designer, web designer, etc – freelancing [...]

Now that’s a strange question isn’t it? I have been in full on family mode this week but I’m trying to keep in mind what I have to do for my upcoming transition. I’ll be honest, I’m trying to prevent a massive panic attack knowing that 2009 is just two months away and I have [...]

Before I started my business as a freelance writer providing online articles and marketing materials for clients, I used to write fiction. I wrote my first novel when I was in middle school. I was lucky enough to be in an experimental 5th & 6th grade program called MAML (Multi-Age-Multi-Level). In this program, we didn’t [...]
