Where I live, I'm lucky because the local parks and rec department (part of our town government) runs a day camp program at the local school. Unbelievably, it's a FREE program (I still cannot believe this...)so my 6 year old can go whenever he wants, every day or just once in awhile. It's from 9am to 3pm, although unfortunately there is no transportation to or from the program. My guess is he'll go twice a week. My youngest will have school for 2.5 hours per day through most of the summer (he's in a special ed preschool that helps keep them in the routine by having year round school instead of breaking for summer and having to start all over again in the fall).

Lucky for me, the kids' dad works nights, and so is often available a few hours during the day to entertain the kids and give me some work time.

Regardless of scheduling... it can be done! Don't let summer and having the kids home scare you out of your dream to work from home.
