Write My Resume or Move Furniture?
Posted by Trisha Wagner on October 30, 2008
Now that’s a strange question isn’t it? I have been in full on family mode this week but I’m trying to keep in mind what I have to do for my upcoming transition. I’ll be honest, I’m trying to prevent a massive panic attack knowing that 2009 is just two months away and I have so much to do to prepare.
One of the more important things that is on my to-do list is updating my resume. When I begin working for myself, my current resume will not likely do the trick in getting clients as it basically outlines all my history as a drone employee of someone else. While many of my experiences and skills will certainly help me as I proceed into self employment, I need to have something that focuses on my experience as a freelance writer (that sounds so snazzy) to impress the pants off of future clients. As you may guess getting future clients = paying bills, eating, and keeping my family warm and clothed. So it’s pretty important.
Now you may wonder, how does moving furniture fit into the picture. Well you see, I have new (to me) furniture coming to my house this Sunday and since I live in a tiny house, that is absolutely packed to the gills with toys, I face the daunting task of getting the old furniture out, going through my deprived son’s worldly belongings and picking which make the cut to stay out and which get packed away. All this so I can park my tush on a new (to me) sofa to do my work in the evenings.
It all brings us back to balance, prioritizing time and being super woman organized if you want to work from home. I made a list of goals that I want to achieve and projects I want to complete, so when it comes to the question write my resume or move furniture, which shall I do? The answer is simple……both!
I wanted to thank Betty and Debbie for the recipe suggestions, both are pretty easy and fit in my time schedule. Thanks!
