Groundhog Day….
Posted by Tisha Tolar on February 8, 2008
So okay – this past weekend was groundhog day but sometimes it seems like everyday is groundhog day. Wake up, kid dresses, kid eats, kid gets on the bus, I switch on the computer. Next thing I know, bus is pulling up for the afternoon drop-off. Where the heck did the day go? The weeks?
When I started out – I felt I had to find something to do to justify staying at home to work. Those little things I did actually got me where I am today – busier than I can believe. That’s a good thing. Totally exciting! Now everyday must be planned but I still must be able to maintain flexibility. There are snow days and school delays that leave me in a tizzy when I am trying to catch up on my projects. I find myself working 14 hours a day just to keep up. Is it worth it? YES! Is it hard? YES!
My best advice for those contemplating a stay-at-home job is to start out small. Whatever your goal is, whatever you want to do – start doing some of it before you quit your job. You don’t want to quit and then spend the next 4 months trying to get a business going. Plus you get a sneak peek at how your days will be spent. Sometimes I feel like I am on autopilot and my body has just begun to do what I need to do and then later my brain registers what I have done. Kinda’ like being a mom sometimes. And that isn’t far from the truth. You’re business becomes your baby. You have to feed it, change it, nuture it, and give it your all or don’t expect to go far – or get paid.
To any loyal readers, I apologize for the gap in posts. Our year has started out with a bang and it hasn’t seem to let up. I have been reading and corresponding with a lot of other bloggers who are simply wonderful, funny, and sometimes totally off the wall but it’s been a pleasure talking to them. I hope to open up a whole new world with fellow moms and entrepreneurs on this site. But in the meantime, if you haven’t checked around and read some of the insight and prospectives that are out there – I suggest you give it a whirl!
Have a great friday! And don’t forget – we are still looking for writers for Reliable Writers AND you still have time to win the FREE Bingo Records Sampler!! It is truly great family music! Google around!!
Peace Out!
