Taking a step back for a minute, I want to go back to one of the ultimate deal breakers if you think you want to work for yourself. That’s C-O-N-F-I-D-E-N-C-E. If you don’t have any, you don’t stand a chance. Confidence, or lack there of, is probably the thing that kept me from starting in the begining. I also think it took me becoming a mom to find that some of the confidence I needed. Although, I am not 100% convinced it was soley confidence that pushed me forward. I think I got sick of thinking and finally started doing. I had a daughter to think about now and that played a huge roll in finding confidence.

If you don’t have a belief in yourself, you can forget about anyone else having any in you!

Of course there is still a lot of times I am not sure what to say or do in some situations but I make sure to keep a confident demeanor and do the best I can to project that image of confidence. It always works out in the end.

You need to believe in yourself. It is a sad probability that what you’ve chosen to do, or simply the fact that you’ve chosen to work on your own, other people will find crazy. Some will even tell you as much. They’ll think you’ve lost your mind and you’ll hear a lot of “okay, sure you’re gonna’ start a business” followed by a dramatic eyeroll. You CAN NOT let those people get to you or allow that type of reaction to sway your confidence. If you do, you probably need to work on your own self-belief before moving forward with a solo gig. (And just for fun – keep in mind that these same people will be the ones banging down your door when you are a huge success and NOW they want to be a part of it. I could write an entire book about “those people” but think I’ll just save it for a later post.) Good Luck!!
