Exploring Your Talents…

One of my biggest pet peeves is when people waste their natural talent. This is almost an obsession of mine. When I find people who possess any kind of creative talent or other natural ability, I immediately feel it is my duty to make that person do something with it! Anything – just do SOMETHING! I realize not everyone is ambitious (and slightly off the rocker) as I am but YOU JUST CAN’T WASTE TALENT!

So, you are still thinking about starting your own business. What will you do? In the beginning, I wanted to do everything. There are occasions that I still do but I have managed to niche myself. How do you find your niche? Well, start with a piece of paper and a pen. Write down what you are good at, what you are bad at, what you like to do, and what you despise doing. Get thinking! Be creative!

I really dislike when people say “but I’m not creative”. Well – give it a try. I bet you are. Thinking negatively will surely make you feel very uncreative! Think positive and think big when exploring your options.

You can explore all kind of options on the internet. I find the online site www.entrepreneur.com to be a good start. It provides some excellent ideas that you can build on. Plus it has a lot of basic and user-friendly information related to working for yourself. Just be wary of the scams. There are so many. With some practice, you’ll be able to tell if an opportunity is too good to be true – and it usually is. Check with friends or friends of friends who may already be doing what you want to do. Most people would be glad to help you because it involves them talking about themselves, their dreams, their business, and their success. Don’t be shy. It is not a good quality for a self-employed person to possess.

Once you begin the process of doing something about working for your self, you’ll become more inspired. Procrastination happens to all of us but if you never start doing, you’re just wasting talent…and you know how I feel about that!!
